We machine 6061-T6, 6082-T6, 6063, 6060, 6005A, 7075-T6, 2024-T351, 2011-T3 (free-machining) and 5083 marine grade. 6061/6082 are the best general-purpose choice (good strength, weldability and anodizing response), 7075 is used where near-steel strength is needed, 2011 gives the fastest, cleanest chip for high-volume turned parts, and 5083 is chosen for seawater and marine exposure.
General dimensions are machined to ISO 2768-m unless the drawing says otherwise. Critical turned diameters and bores are routinely held to ±0.01–0.02 mm, bearing and dowel bores to H7, and positional tolerances to 0.02–0.05 mm depending on part size and fixturing. Every drawing is reviewed before quotation so we can flag any tolerance that adds unnecessary cost.
Standard CNC-machined faces are supplied at Ra 1.6–3.2 µm. Sealing faces, bearing seats and cosmetic surfaces can be finished to Ra 0.8 µm or better with dedicated finishing passes, diamond-tipped tooling, polishing or bead blasting, depending on the function and the finish that follows.
CNC turning, auto-lathe turning, VMC milling, drilling, tapping, reaming, boring, broaching, knurling, wire EDM, engraving and deburring are all carried out in-house at our Jamnagar facility. Combining turning and milling on one supplier removes hand-offs, shortens lead time and keeps datums consistent across operations.
Options include clear and colour sulphuric anodizing (MIL-A-8625 Type II), hard anodizing (Type III, typically 25–60 µm), chromate/trivalent conversion coating (MIL-DTL-5541) for electrical conductivity and paint adhesion, powder coating, bead blasting, brushing, polishing and electroless nickel plating. We help you choose the finish according to wear, corrosion, conductivity and appearance requirements.
Anodic coatings grow roughly 50% outward and 50% into the substrate. A 20 µm Type II coating adds about 10 µm per surface (20 µm on a diameter) and a 50 µm hard-anodized layer adds about 25 µm per surface. Tight bores and threads are therefore either machined undersize/oversize to compensate or masked, which we plan at the quotation stage.
We cut and form ISO metric coarse and fine, UNC/UNF, BSP (G), BSPT, NPT and custom threads, internally and externally. For threads that will be assembled repeatedly or loaded by steel fasteners we recommend helical coil (Helicoil-type) or key-locking inserts, because aluminium threads wear faster than steel.
Aluminium is anodic to steel, brass and copper, so in wet or salty environments it corrodes preferentially. We recommend anodizing or conversion coating the aluminium, using stainless or zinc-flake coated fasteners, adding insulating washers or sleeves, and applying jointing compound on electrical joints. We can supply the isolating hardware with the machined part.
6061-T6 (yield about 275 MPa) is cheaper, more corrosion resistant, weldable and anodizes very well, so it suits most brackets, housings and fittings. 7075-T6 (yield about 500 MPa) is close to mild steel in strength and is chosen for highly stressed, weight-critical parts, but it costs more, is not weldable and has lower corrosion resistance unless anodized.
We accept STEP, IGES, Parasolid, SolidWorks, DWG, DXF and PDF. The best package is a 3D model plus a fully toleranced 2D PDF showing material grade and temper, surface finish, thread specifications, critical features and annual quantity. We can also reverse-engineer from a physical sample.
Our MOQ is 10 pieces per part number, which makes prototypes, pilot lots and spare-part runs practical. Once the prototype is approved, the same program, fixtures and inspection plan are used for series production, so there is no requalification gap between sample and bulk supply.
Conex works to an ISO 9001:2015 quality management system. Each lot receives first-article and in-process inspection with calibrated micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges and thread go/no-go gauges, followed by 100% visual and final dimensional inspection. Dimensional reports, material test certificates (EN 10204 3.1) and finish certificates are supplied on request.
Yes. We use RoHS-compliant aluminium grades and finishes, including trivalent (Cr3+) passivation instead of hexavalent chromate where required. For free-machining alloys that contain lead, such as 2011, lead-free alternatives like 6026 or 6262 can be supplied for EU ELV and RoHS-sensitive applications.
Samples are normally ready within 2–3 weeks of drawing approval and series production in 4–6 weeks, depending on quantity, material availability and finishing (hard anodizing and plating add a few days). Repeat orders with existing programs and fixtures ship faster, and we can hold buffer stock for scheduled call-offs.
Yes. We regularly ship to the USA, UK, Europe, Canada and Australia on FOB, CIF, DAP or DDP terms by sea or air. Parts are cleaned, protected with VCI film and packed in separated cartons or trays on export pallets, with part numbers, lot numbers and your PO reference labelled on each carton.
