The base provides a rigid, weather-resistant mount for the air rod and a clamping point for the roof conductor, creating the first low-resistance connection in the lightning current path.
Versions are available for horizontal (flat roof), vertical (wall or parapet) and ridge mounting, with two or four fixing holes depending on rod length and wind exposure.
Bases are fixed with stainless screws through EPDM sealing washers or mastic, or mounted on non-penetrating concrete or rubber blocks for membrane roofs.
LM6 (AlSi12) casting alloy offers excellent corrosion resistance and castability and is widely used for lightning protection bases and clamps.
Standard bases accept M16 or 5/8 in UNC threaded rods. Other threads can be tapped on request for regional standards.
