Open Die Forgings

Precision-Engineered Open Die Forgings for Industrial Applications

Our open die forgings deliver exceptional strength, durability, and reliability, making them ideal for demanding industrial and commercial applications.

Engineered to the highest standards, our open die forgings provide superior performance, strength, and customization for diverse industries.

At Conex Aluminium Components, we specialize in manufacturing high-quality open die forgings that cater to various industrial sectors, including aerospace, automotive, construction, and heavy machinery. Our open die forging process ensures superior mechanical properties, precision, and customization options. These forgings are designed to withstand extreme conditions, offering unmatched reliability and durability. With advanced manufacturing techniques, we provide tailored solutions that meet specific project requirements while ensuring consistent quality and performance.

Round and square bars, flats, discs, pancakes, rings, hubs, sleeves and stepped shafts can be forged, then machined to final dimensions.

6061, 6082, 2014, 2024, 7075 and 5083 are commonly forged, selected for strength, toughness, corrosion resistance and weldability.

Open die forging refines the grain and eliminates internal voids, giving better toughness, fatigue strength and through-thickness properties than thick plate or large-diameter bar, especially for highly stressed parts.

Yes. Because it uses simple dies, open die forging requires little or no dedicated tooling, making it ideal for prototypes, low-volume and large components.

Yes. Forgings are solution treated and aged to T6, T652 or T73 tempers to achieve specified properties and reduce residual stress.

Ultrasonic testing checks for internal defects, while hardness, tensile and conductivity tests confirm mechanical properties and heat treatment.

Open die forgings are supplied with a machining allowance, typically a few millimetres per side depending on size, so the final part can be fully machined to drawing tolerances.

Aerospace and defence structures, hydraulic cylinders and blocks, tooling plates and moulds, wheel hubs, flanges and heavy machinery components.

Yes. Material test certificates (EN 10204 3.1), heat treatment records and ultrasonic test reports are available.

Yes. We can supply rough forgings or fully machined finished parts.

Size depends on press and furnace capacity; please send your dimensions and we will confirm feasibility.

Yes. Forgings can be produced to AMS, ASTM B247, EN 586 or customer specifications.

Open die forgings are typically delivered within 4–6 weeks, depending on alloy availability and heat treatment.

Please provide finished dimensions or drawing, alloy and temper, testing requirements and quantity.
