Binding posts, also called Chicago screws or sex bolts, are two-piece fasteners consisting of a female barrel post and a male screw. They join multiple layers such as paper, leather, plastic or sheet metal and can be disassembled easily.
They are used in swatch books, menus, ledgers, leather goods, belts, holsters, signage, displays, electronics and panels where a neat, removable fastening is needed.
Common shank diameters are 3/16 in (5 mm) and 1/4 in (6 mm), with post lengths from 1/8 in (3 mm) to 2 in (50 mm) or more. Head diameters and styles are made to order.
Standard threads include 8-32 UNC, 10-24 UNC, M4 and M5. Screws can be supplied with slotted, Phillips or Torx heads.
Binding posts are machined from 6061-T6 or 2011-T3 aluminium for good machinability and strength.
Natural, clear, black and colour anodized finishes are available, including matching or contrasting colours for posts and screws.
